Fine M1858 forage cap of Wesley J. Brown, Company I, 50th New York Engineers.  Wesley served from 1861-1864 and had this very hat SHOT off his head at Petersburg, Virginia.  Right from the family with many original documents plus notarized affidavit from the great, great grandson.  A spectacular battle scarred piece of cloth from the Civil War.  All original insignia.
