$0.00Price
- Rare Confederate infantry jacket as manufactured 1863-1864 at the Columbus Depot. This fine enlistedman coat is attributed to use by James S. Wise who served in Company G, 41st Georgia.
Wise enlisted in March 1862 and was captured at Atlanta, Georgia July 22, 1864 and made POW at Camp Chase, Ohio. He was paroled and exchanged at City Point, Virginia (Boulware's Wharf) in March, 1865.
The jacket is missing buttons, which is common with prisoner of war uniforms as the items were used as barter and also taken by Union guards. Very few examples of these jackets remain and most all are in public institutions.
