Kepi of Lt. Thomas Wright Slocumb who served in both the Goldsboro Rifles (Co. A, 27th NC) and the 9th NC Cavalry from 1861-1864. Slocumb saw action with both units, ultimately being discharged due to wounds incurred at the Battle of Brandy Station, Virginia. Ex-William "Bill" Turner Collection. Very rare identified officer headgear worn in both the infantry and the cavalry.
